THE GREAT HISTORY OF IGEDE IN BENUE STATE

              THE MOVEMENT OF IGEDE PEOPLE
All the Igede people who have crossed the seven tributaries of river Oyongo, rested at the side of
Utukenge in Uwokwu area of Igede land and then moved to a place called Ipinu Igede ( forest of Igede ) a place where Igede people first settled and formed the Igede family who have today re- migrated to form the clans of Igede people are all known AA home based Igede tribe today. There is no doubt that the vast land has few individuals that could live on the land and who are now assimilated by language spoken and culture of the Igede majority too. There were some Igede families whose clan names seemed to disappear and decline due to cultural affiliation by the authorities of the then Igede people. What is popular and Paramount today are the units which Igede people grouped themselves. The Any' Ogede ( Igede children ) have shared themselves in the course of relocation and re - migration from their first place of settlement popularly known as "Ipinu Igede" where Epwadi of the entire Igede people was formed and situated till date at Ada Iyeche of Oju local government Area of Benue State. Meanwhile , these families have grown to form recognized Igede traditional clans that could also have known as Igede sons or "Upuma NY' Igede".
THE SONS OF IGEDE (UPUMA NY IGEDE)
1. Ada - Senior sons of Igede
2. Ocheche
3. Ugbodu
4. Amono
5. Ogbagba
6. Ochimadu
7. Aganyi
8. Adoinu ( Otakom )
9. Adito
10. Olelega
11. Odum
12. Aditekpa
13 Adigab
14. Okpogo ( the last son of Igede ). These above were how the Igede components are today recognized. It may also be good to explain them for their easy location ( Imwawu) as below: a) Ada today is known to be Iyeche
b) Ocheche - Anchim
c) Ugbodu - Oye
d) Amono - Ukpa
e) Ogbagba - Oboru
f) Ochimadu - Owo
g) Aganyi - IBILLA
h) Adoinu - (Otakom ) Ainu
I) Adoto - Into ( Majorly Obi LGA )
j) Olelega - Uwokwu
k) Odum - Idele
l) Aditakpa - Itakpa
m) Adigabu - Gabu
n) Anyokpogo ( Ad' Oju ) Oju
Thus Igede people are sub-divided and organized into fourteen (14) States led by clan heads and governed by Adutu as their overall paramount and cultural leader. There are Also Adikobias , beaded chiefs, elders (Igabwo ) Idumale ( headman ) and town criers that govern the grass root communities to enhance peace and dissemination of information. Today the district head ( Okwubi ) and ward heads work directly under the paramount ruler as Other chiefs work under them. LOADING..........

Ex-Big Brother Naija star, singer and guitarist, Deborah Ebun, popularly called Debie-Rise, has revealed how her Dad pardoned her after she sneaked out to the show. Debbie-Rise was one of the contestants that lasted till the last day of the reality show. While in the show, she had told fellow housemates how she ran out of her home because her dad, a pastor, would not let her attend the show. The Kogi-born singer, who has been touring media houses since the end of the reality, said, “Apart from the fact that my father is a pastor, I feel like I’m a typical girl with a good cultural upbringing from the north where parents are very protective of their children or they are just worried about the outside world like the city life. “So, I understood it as to the kind of life he wanted for me. I know he wants the best for me and he was just trying his best. “He was trying to be protective but being a pastor and me trying to have a career in music, there could be this friction....

Senator Abba Moro Excludes Obi and Oju from Medical Outreach as Bad Roads Cut Off Communities

Senator Abba Moro Excludes Obi and Oju from Medical Outreach as Bad Roads Cut Off Communities By Smith Akoko A wave of disappointment has swept through the Obi and Oju Local Government Areas of Benue State following their exclusion from the recent medical outreach organized by Senator Abba Moro. According to sources close to the outreach team, the decision to skip the two localities was not intentional but rather a result of the deplorable state of the roads linking the communities. The impassable routes reportedly made it impossible for medical personnel and logistics teams to access the areas safely. Residents and community leaders, however, have expressed their frustration, lamenting that the poor road network continues to rob them of essential services. Many described the development as “heartbreaking,” noting that health care should not be a privilege reserved for those in more accessible locations.  We have been neglected for too long.  Each rainy season worsens o...
