Intresting-- Niger Delta deserves fair deal - Osinbajo

The Federal Government has again admitted that oil-producing communities of the Niger Delta deserve a better deal. Speaking at the State House in Abuja yesterday while meeting with some ministers and heads of agencies and departments, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the suffering of the people of the region was due to past leadership failure.

He said: “The president believes the people of the Niger Delta deserve justice, and for me also,
it is a very important point. The state of the region and the suffering of the people do not reflect,
the fact that it is the resource base of the country.” The Minister of State for Environment,
Ibrahim Jibrin, informed participants of the meeting about the engagement of the Ogoni clean-up,
project coordinator, Dr. Marvin Dekil, a native of Ogoni.
The minister also disclosed that potential contractors had been visiting the site to demonstrate,
available and suitable technology to be used for the exercise.
The leader of the delegation, the Dutch envoy, John C.M. Groffen, said countries represented,
at the meeting would like to “stay involved in the dialogue.

Senator Abba Moro Excludes Obi and Oju from Medical Outreach as Bad Roads Cut Off Communities By Smith Akoko A wave of disappointment has swept through the Obi and Oju Local Government Areas of Benue State following their exclusion from the recent medical outreach organized by Senator Abba Moro. Residents and community leaders, however, have expressed their frustration, lamenting that the poor road network continues to rob them of essential services. Many described the development as “heartbreaking,” noting that health care should not be a privilege reserved for those in more accessible locations.  We have been neglected for too long.  Each rainy season worsens o...
